Step 1: The Scroll Body.
>You need a structured cylinder that is very light.
>Cardboard and PVC are too heavy, I used this stuff:

Step 2: Scroll Cover
>> I doubled up both fabrics, thats up to you. In the end, you want a rectangle of maroon fabric (width of the scroll) with a rectangle of green fabric (width about a foot less than the scroll)sewn to one side, and a rectangle of white fabric (same width as the green) sewn to the other. They should be as long as the circumference of the scroll plus how long you want the roll-out part of the scroll to be.
>> Wrap one end of the fabric around the cylinder and mark where it comes back around and hits itself (hopefully that makes sense). Sew the end to where you marked (pin it first to be sure it works) with the white on the inside. you should be able to now slip in the scroll body, and have a length of fabric trailing off.
>>Hot glue the fabric to the scroll body in some places to stop it from slipping around.
Step 3: Scroll Ends
>> I just cut some pieces of cylindrical Styrofoam (about 1/2" thick) to fit into the ends, covered the faces in white fabric (to simulate paper), slid them into the ends, and hot glued them in place.
>> I then took the lids from small cardboard cylindrical boxes and painted them black, and hotglued them to the middle of the white caps, inserting a few sewing pins to help keep it tight against the Styrofoam.
Step 4: The symbols
>> Use black paint to paint the symbols onto the roll-out part of the scroll. Its a good idea to trace out in pencil how you want them to look first.
Step 5: Velcro.
>> Attach velcro pieces to the scroll body where the end of the roll-out piece hits when its rolled up, and to the end of the roll-out piece itself, so when you roll it up, it will stay rolled up.
Step 6: The harness
>> I dont really have advice for this one. I just threw it together out of white fabric.
Hope that helps!
